| For a period during the 1970s, Amtrak's California Service rode on Union Pacific rails between Chicago and Ogden, Utah. On Thanksgiving Day 1974, Amtrak SDP40F 622, along with mate 587, make a stop in Cheyenne, WY for fuel and servicing before continuing the westbound trek to Oakland with train #5.
