| General Electric produced two types of off-center cab locomotives prior to World War II: 45-ton and 60-ton. Because they were driven by a single large engine (rather than two small engines used in center cab models), it was necessary to move the cab further back on the frame. Production of the 60-ton off-center cab models stopped at ten units; similarly to the 45-ton OCC model, all except three of the new 60-ton OCCs went directly to the U.S. Military. Spotting Features: Although they were very similar in outward appearance, there were several features that differentiated the two GE off-center models from each other, as well from other manufacturers.
