VIA FPA4: A Perspective

R. Craig photos

The prospect of taking an action photo of a MLW-built cab unit would usually get the adrenalin flowing, but quite the contrary on this occasion. It is 31 March 1989, and the last day VIA FPAs can lead passenger trains in Canada. An overcast sky and very light drizzle only add to the melancholy mood, as westbound VIA Train #83 approaches with a a pair of Montreal beauties on the point. The curtain is about to be drawn on a disappearing railroad scene, and FPA4s 6764 and 6780 are center stage. (R. Craig photos)
